I'm using windows 8 and I just found out about the 10k committment so thought I'd gve it a go. I tried to install one of the files I needed for developing in HTML 5 called BB10-WebWorks-SDK_1.0.2.exe. I have installed it but when I try to run it it goes to 100% then crashes and says
"This Application has suddenly quit.
Invocation of this Java Application has caused and InvocationTargetException. This application will now exit (LAX)"
I can then click OK or details. If I click on details it comes up with the below:
Application Exception Details:
ZeroGu3: Windows DLL failed to load
at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source)
I'm not sure if it is doing this because I am running windows 8 or for some other reason but I would like to find out why. Any help would be appreciated.

I am currently experiencing the same issue as you with Windows 8. I am working on the problem right now(hopefully fixable) and will share my findings here whenever I get it to work.

here is how i got it to work. The problem is actually the packager ''InstallAnywhere'' that isn't Windows 8 compatible and never fully extracts the contents of the exe
So to my surprise, because it rarely works, I simply changed the compatibility mode of the files (BB10-WebWorks-SDK_1.0.2.exe and also BlackBerry10Simulator-Installer-BB10_0_09-386-Win-
Once I changed the compatibility mode ( Right-click file, choose Properties - Compatibility Tab, check the ''Run this program in compatiblity mode for'' and then choose Windows 7 in the drop down menu.
This worked for me and hopefully should work for you.
If you need any more help, please let me know.

Hi and thanks for the suggestions,
This didn't solve the issue for me on Windows 8 (x64), I tried running the installer in Windows 7 and Windows XP mode but no luck

I am also running Windows 8 x64 and it worked on the first try. Did you force Run As Administrator also? or simply the Compatibility mode?
I'm curious why it wouldn't run on yours if you used the same procedure. Does it give you the exact same error as above in Brenfalk's post or slighty different. It could be related to your jdk/jre version also. Maybe confirm you have those updated and installed on your computer.
Let me know if you have a progress update.

And thanks for the help.
I did "force" Run as Adminstrator.
My Java version is the following:
java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 17.0-b17, mixed mode)
I don't know how to fix this, I'm having a friend sending me the "installed sdk" zipped to see if that works, the funny thing is the the ripple Chrome extension works perfectly

I'll try and keep looking on my side what else could be causing you to still have the issue. If I come up with the answer, i'll let you know for sure.
Sorry this isn't working for you right now.
Keep us posted if you find something too.

Have you made sure you have the latest version of Java running on your computer? That could be your problem. Go to the java website and check to see if it is ttthe correct version then update if necessary. I did that before I got any response and so the download worked perfectly.
