The blog says:

Applications in the BlackBerry App World™ storefront are assigned their own UUID automatically.

 Does anyone know how to retrieve it, either manually or from the app?

Once you create an app in the vendor portal, it gets assigned a number. You can see it when you then edit the previoulsy saved product.

Are you referring to the ID shown on the Product Info page?

That is not a UUID, or at least does not look like one.

Yes, it is not a universal unique id, but it is the only id in app world that identifies an app.
