Beware when you 'share' a link to your app

Just thought I'd share what Ijust found out the hard way to warn others:

If you are trying to spread the word about your app by hitting the "Share" link in the top right corner of your web-based App World page, it will actually share URL with a trailing "/" which is not a problem on a computer, but when the link is clicked from within the PlayBook (Browser or Facebook) people can NOT get to your app! App World will just open to an empty screen saying:

"This item is not supported by your current device profile"

So it's probably  best to share your link manually making sure that you only put something like this into the source:

https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/<your id>

and NOT:

https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/<your id>/

  or

https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/<your id>/?lang=en

can you shoot me the id? I was also in the middle of reporting this internally :smileyhappy: I can assume ownership of the public issue and link it to the internal one

Thanks, that seems re-assuring - hopefully it will be taken care off then!

Anna, you should edit your forum signature to remove that trailing slash too then. ;-)

Re: Beware when you 'share' a link to your app

huh? it doesn't have one ... - the last number is a 1, maybe that just looked like a slash? or does it not work for you either?!

You just scared me though - the signature seemed the only part of my little 'marketing campaign' that hasn't caused any problems so far :-)

Oh, my bad. Actually the web site's "bad"... it adds it with a redirect!
