Blackberry AppWorld Payment Service for Vendors in Nigeria

Hi.

Please how can I configure Payment service as an app world vendor.

I am a developer in Nigeria. PayPal does not accept registration from Nigeria.

So, please any suggestions on how to make use of the app world  payment service will be very much appreciated.

So that I can develop more apps with the aim of making some money in the app world.

Thanks.

I believe in-app purchases still get routed to PayPal.

Thanks for the response.

But what i really need is a solution. What can I do & how can I go about making money from my apps as a developer in Nigeria.

Paypal is not an option for me because it is not available for Nigeria (they do not accept registration from Nigerian).

Please kindly help with other alternatives to receive payments.

Re: Blackberry AppWorld Payment Service for Vendors in Nigeria

The reason PayPal is set up is for security reasons. Payment processing is done through Digital River, which also manages products for BlackBerry App World vendors.

You can make money by setting a price for your application. In-app payments is one way to monetize.

Other Monetization Methods To Consider:

  • Charge price for app
  • Advertising
  • Freemium (Two versions of app, Free/Paid)
  • Develop apps for companies, charge client, release to App World for free
  • Develop app in conjunction with a web service
  • App sponsorship

I am sure there are companies in Nigeria that want to pay you to make an app for them. You may even make more $$$ this way.

Good luck to you sir.

Thanks greenback.

So, are you saying that it is not possible for app world vendors in Nigeria (and other countries in which paypal does not work) to sell apps in the blackberry app world.

Note that Nigeria is the biggest blackberry smartphone buyer in Africa, and one of the largest in the world.

Suggestions on alternative means of receiving payments apart from paypal will be well appreciated.

About In-App payments, I think this requires you to have a paypal account.

If it does not, Can I use my dollar domiciliary account with a Nigerian Bank or does the account have to be with a US Bank?

Thanks a lot for your time.

Dear Greenback,

Please can you help me with a more detailed explanation of "In-App" payments.

1)Does this mean that I can use any payment platform I want within my app?

2)Is this allowed on the blackberry app-world

I appreciate your time and response

Re: Blackberry AppWorld Payment Service for Vendors in Nigeria

This is probably more suited to the App World forum, but as far as I know RIM does not restrict in-app payments to App World. Using another payment processing service should be an option.

I've also heard that some countries have a direct deposit option for App World. I've never seen it myself, but I have PayPal available. Perhaps if you try to register an account you'll see it as an option?
