You don't need a custom list, you just need to attach a custom item renderer to the standard list. Basically, you subclass the built-in LabelItemRenderer and add your own components as needed.
Here is a 4-part series on creating mobile item renderers. In it, Nahuel Foronda builds an item render with 3 text fields and some graphics. Some of the subject matter is about styling, but it should get you started:
