How to use "blackberry-tablet.xml" with Flex app. ?

[ Edited ]

Hello all,

  here's a question about the app. descriptor.

When using Flex IDE, app. descriptor is built automatically, and named after the app. name

(ex: myApp-app.xml)

For signing app. (thanks for the link: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Tablet-OS-SDK-for-Adobe-AIR/Anyone-notice-Signing-procedures/...),

I see in the tutorial that the Company name must match the one in the file blackberry-tablet.xml, under tag "publisher".

So for Flex dev. app, do we have to include this tag in the myApp-app.xml ?

Or maybe adding the full <qnx> node structure ? (where ...?)

Or is this blackberry-tablet.xml file mandatory ? If so, how to combine it with the myApp-app.xml descriptor ?

That's it for the question marks.

Usage of blackberry-tablet.xml is optional but encouraged. If you don't want to use it at all you can set publisher in the command line of airpackager

-publisher <company_name>

FB unfortunately does not work properly for export, so you have to do packaging and signing from the command line anyway if you want to prepare it for app world submission.

Re: How to use "blackberry-tablet.xml" with Flex app. ?

Hello elena,

 using FB, I was not really aware of this bb-tablet.xml, but I'll definitively use it.

So for now I simply put the file next to App root (next to myApp-app.xml), and it looks ok.

And I join you about the FB export issues, I now encounter the same "too many attached files" problem we had with SDK 0.9.0, when I use FB to "Export Release Build" (using the BB SDK 0.9.3).

So I will use manual line commands for the full process, but I'm not sure how to get rid of the "app-debug" name when packaging the bar. (I was using FB for this part... until reaching the file limit)

Here is the layout of my bb-tablet.xml in case you were wondering "where in the xml" to put the publisher info.

<qnx>
  <initialwindow>
    <systemchrome>default</systemchrome>
    <transparent>false</transparent>
  </initialwindow>
  <publisher>Tensioncore Design Studios</publisher>
  <splashscreen>stsplash.png</splashscreen>
  <category>core.internet</category>
  <icon>
  	<image>blackberry-tablet-icon.png</image>
  </icon>
</qnx>

Re: How to use "blackberry-tablet.xml" with Flex app. ?

A fuller documentation/explanation of the different nodes, as well as their meanings and supported values, would be very helpful toward using and troubleshooting this XML.

E.g., I've used an XML file that looks very much like this example, and part of it (splashscreen) work, while parts of it (category) do not, and I have no basis to debug it.

Thanks.
