Your BlackBerry PlayBook ships once they are commercially available in your location.
So it is literally shiped the day it is released? Or is it sent early so that its estimated time of arrival is the release date? Not that it's a big deal, I'm just wondering so that I don't have to pull my hair out if it comes to my house a few days after release.

Probably not "literally". Plus or minus a few days I would expect. We are important to RIM, but getting it to paying customers might rank just above us.

MSohm, you stated that apps are approved in order of submission, give or take some 'small discrepancies'.
Yet, some apps get approved in days while others have to wait for weeks. I wouldn't really call that a 'small discrepancy' honestly.

In my experience, updates get processed much quicker than new app approvals. Is there a separate team working on updates, or does everything go through the same people?
The same people work on both, but I think the update process takes involves less work.

The order in which we start to review applications matches the order they were submitted. However, there are a number of things that could impact the length of time it takes to complete that review. A few things that could cause a review to take longer are...

MSohm, thanks for the info.
Is there preference given to apps that are not the first app for that developer?
i.e. Dev 1 has already had an app approved and submits a second app. Dev 2 submits his first app a week later. Does Dev 2's app get pushed to the front of the line?

Nope. First app in, first app tested. It doesn't matter who submits it.
