Can anyone confirm (or not) that the PlayBook includes a native Explorer-like file management utility able to launch documents, change file names etc.

It would be excellent if a developer built this application.  I am sure there is a window of opportunity to make some $$ as I would be happy to pay for a file manager/browser that included directory structure of files copied onto the PB.  It would also need the ability to 'launch' the application when a file was clicked to open (i.e. open Adobe Reader, W2Go, S2Go, SS2Go, etc.)

RIM hasn't provided this and I think a lot of people want this functionality and expect it.

Looks great. Diito on the beta testing. I am not certain what the 2 columns represent. They appear to be the same thing. Also, if you can add the ability to bookmark directories to make it easier to get back to a folder.

Its a dual panel setup sorta like total commander/xplorer2 . Right now the image shows the same folder, but you can navigate to different folders and do any operation between both of them and the bookmarking idea Is already planned, but not for this version.

Won't a file browser require a native sdk (and possibly root)?  I thought air apps were sandboxed.  There's a file browser in the app store, but it can only see its own files. (hope I'm wrong about the sandbox!)

Using AIR you can basically see anything inside the "Shared" folder... documents, videos, music, photos, misc...etc

That is basically where the majority of user files will be anyways so it should be pretty decent.
