Signing Failed - Previously Signed

Gotta love signing.

1st stage signing of a NEW app, using:

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4\sdks\blackberry-tablet-sdk-0.9.4\bin\blackberry-signer" -verbose -cskpass <PASSWORD> -keystore "C:\data\flex4\signing\playbookcert3.p12" -storepass <PASSWORD> <MYAPP>.bar RDK

I get:

  • This is a brand new app.
  • I tried setting the version to "1.0.1" and I get the same error.
  • Compiles and deploys fine on the simulator.
  • blackberry-tablet.xml file is in the BAR file.
  • Same cert worked fine on other apps, but I have not tried them in several weeks.

Any thoughts?

Re: Signing Failed - Previously Signed

Check for a bar.sig file in the same directory with the same name, if it exists delete it(backup first)

I had this problem and it was because of that file existing, it should only exist for a brief second while signing.

Re: Signing Failed - Previously Signed

Update:

Tried signing existing app (with version incremented) and it signed fine in both stages.

Re: Signing Failed - Previously Signed

hey john,

have you tried incrementing the version number? :Shifty:

sorry couldn't resist. seriously though, try signing another app instead -- one that you know has worked in the past and just increment and see if signing works. if not then you know its a problem on RIM's signing server's side.

i'll try to sign right now and see if i can reproduce the same error. good luck!

Re: Signing Failed - Previously Signed

That was it.  A .sig file was in the directory.  Deleted it and it worked.

I learned something new today.

Thanks.

Re: Signing Failed - Previously Signed

Still getting it again.  Incremented the version for a "trial" version.  BAR file created OK, same signing error.  No ".sig" file in the directory.

Re: Signing Failed - Previously Signed

hey john,

also something else that got me to receive that error, even though i updated the -app.xml with the new version, it didnt update the bin-debug version right away. i had to do a Project > Clean for it to update properly. So try that and then export. Also as the poster said above, remove any .sig file from the previous failure. Good luck!

Re: Signing Failed - Previously Signed

I always do a "clean" build for releases.  That was not it.

But, I just kept on issuing the same command to sign, and then it took.  Maybe something going on with the servers.  It is a well known fact that developers dont work on the weekend at during late hours. :smileywink:
