why doesn't AppWorld show the latest version, even though it was approved weeks ago?
Did I miss some step?

Did you post the new approved version for sale?

the product screen says "Up for Sale" - doesn't show any version number.

Is the correct version showing on the App World website?
If so, sometimes the App World client software cache can get "stuck" - if you go to My World on your device, then
Hold down ALT
Press R
Then S
Then T
The client should restart and you should see the correct version of your application...
If that doesn't work then get in touch with vendor support:

Good luck! :-)

Sorry - my bad - I didn't spot this was the AIR forum
You can still reset the cache on the PlayBook app world - just swipe up from the left to bring the keyboard up and type
rst
Should work :-)

No, cannot reset the cache - and worse yet, a customer has downloaded a version that was supplanted back in Feb.
WTF is going on? RIM has not responded to my query...

About the latest version that is approved - have you gone into the "manage products" section of the vendor portal, and selected "post for sale" for that version?

the manage products page does not show the version that is for sale - only the product, and it is up for sale.
