hardware id unique?

Does anyone know if the hardware id (Device.device.hardwareID) is 'somewhat' unique? I need to get something like that, not necessarily unique, but identifiable, like a hashed value. At first I wanted to use a MD5 hashed Device.device.pin, but to use that, I need to ask the user for permission, and I don't think users like that :/ Just in case, mine looks like this 100669XXX (XXX are other numbers)

Re: hardware id unique?

Unique identifier of specific device is PIN or Serian number (which is kind of the same).

They are protected by user action because it is considered private information.

Hardward Id - is the same for all playbooks.
