simulator/SDK errors

I made the app in Flash professional. I used a .bat file to compile into the bar file. This works n someone else's computer but throws erros on mine.

Messages recieved in the command line:

Invalid manifest file C: ...........(the path to the file)bar558007970575787244.MF

Invalid value ' 1.0.0' for package-version

Package created: book1.bar

Error: Cannot connect: Connection to https://192.168.197.255 refused. You may have to reboot the target

==========

I have tried rebooting both the machine and the VMplayer 3X and re-powered the player everytime.

The app will not appear in the simulator.

OS: win7 64bit

thanks in advance

Re: simulator/SDK errors

You should have tried the search function first. A couple of users experienced problems like yours.

The most common causes were:

  • misspelled IP-address
  • network configuration issues (in VMWare as well)
  • software firewall / "internet security software" enabled
If you cannot find a solution in the forums, feel free to post the result of your "ipconfig" (Win) / "ifconfig" (OSX/Linux) command and "ping [Emu-IP]" the emulator here.

Re: simulator/SDK errors

Thank you for the reply.

I have researched the posting in the forum. and did not find what I was looking for. The address is checked and doubled checked. Where do i access the network configurations for VMWare?

I don't even know what ipconfig is. I am only a beginner.

To tell you the truth I has been so frustrating working on this nothing works at all the videos and screen shoots do not match.  Sorry for venting, I know this is not your fault. RIM should have had better tools or a set-up to get and keep the developers !!

thats just my 2¢

[ Edited ]

A beginner with what? Computers in general? :smileytongue:

Given you use Windows: Start > Run (leave out this step with Win7 > cmd.

That should open up a command line prompt (black window and white text by default).

Enter "ipconfig" (your computers network configuration) and "ping [your emulators ip]" (to check if the emulator is reachable anyhow) there and post all results.

Re: simulator/SDK errors

When the command prompt came up I put in:

ipconfig 192.168.197.1 ping 192.168.197.255

Error: unrecognized or incomplete command line

Then there is about 1.5 page of text that follows I do not know how to copy this. Control+C does not work in the command window.

Re: simulator/SDK errors

To copy text from the CLI, right click anywhere and choose "select" (English translation might differ). Whatever you select then is copied to the clipboard.

That's not one command, but rather two:

ipconfig

and

ping 192.168.197.255

But there's an error anyway: your emulator's IP can't end with .255 as this is used for multicast purposes only.

Re: simulator/SDK errors

here is what my simulator say:

inet 192.168.197.128 broadcast 192.168.197.255

should I be using the first one?

Re: simulator/SDK errors

Yep.

I find it easier to click on the "development mode" (cog) icon visible in the top bar in the application launcher to check for your current emulator IP.

Can you ping 192.168.197.128?

Re: simulator/SDK errors

OKAY,

This says success and loads the .bar file

The splash screen shows for a second and then it goes to a white page with small dots flashing on the bottom of the page.

Re: simulator/SDK errors

So you should probably mark this thread as solved and open up a new one describing your new problem. There are also a whole lot of exising discussions about non-starting apps with various reasons given.

Assuming your app launches in your local AIR debugger, there's perhaps something wrong with

  • audio
  • transparent background not disabled
A screenshot might help - in a new thread.
