starling?

Does anyone have any Starling demos or apps working?

Running into problems testing the alpha device.

Re: starling?

Unfortunately, RIM has decided to delay support for Stage3D and other newer AS3 technologies (such as workers/threads) until a later date, unspecified but after BB10 launch. Therefore Starling and other frameworks that rely on Stage3D can not be used for now. More info in the roadmap under "Upgraded runtime"

Re: starling?

Was that decison made public?  I recall hearing on one of the AIRSDK performance webcasts that an updated runtime was coming by end of year.  I know I am hoping for too much as we are only 3 days away from that.  But wanted to know if there was an official statement.

Re: starling?

Yes, this has been public for many months. The AIR roadmap has it as "TBD", but it has not been a secret of timeframe. The updated runtime to 3.4/3.5 would not occur until an update to the API is released and that would not occur until after BB10 is out and probably not until after the keyboard version of the device is out. We all assume that to be around the Spring 2013.

It mainly comes down to human resources. All the low level developes are on BB10 and cannot support the AIR runtime changes needed until BB10 is "done" and out the door.

Re: starling?

I find it odd that  it would it work on the simulator (Desktop BlackBerry All Touch) and not the device.
