Hi,
I work as Android Application Developer and my boss received the BlackBerry 10 Alpha device.
So, I played around with it and successfully port 2 simple Android apps into the BlackBerry 10 Alpha.
But when I tried to port one of our larger app, it fails to run. I can only assume since BB10 is still in alpha, not all APIs are supported yet.
So, I've got a few questions.
1. What is the future of Android Runtime ?
2. I've heard rumor that you guys plan to drop support of Android Runtime in the future. Can you guys confirm it ?
3. If you guys plan to continue Android Runtime, when will you guys add support for Android 4.0 (API 14) and above ?
Thanks a lot for your time.

Very good question.
I would also like to know if you plan to introduce 4.0 support.
Bluetooth support would also be very welcome.

There are no plans to drop support for the BlackBerry Runtime for Android Apps ![]()
Are we always evaluating what future features and APIs that we will be adding to the Runtime. Things like NFC, Bluetooth, etc. It's a matter of priority, time and effort. We have a Roadmap for major features posted here: http://developer.blackberry.com/android/tools/road
As for the future, we are currently evaluating what next Android OS we'll bring support for. So don't worry, we're not planning to stay on Ginderbread 2.3.3 forever.
Cheers
