Installing .bar file to BB10

I have successfully signed and converted my .apk app to .bar file. I have tried to instal the .bar file to a BB 10 handset and can see the .bar file on the desktop but my application icon is not being displayed. When I try opening the .bar file, an error message 'Unable to open nameofapp.bar file' prompts.

Do I need to use an installer to to install the .bar file to the bb10 device?

Re: Installing .bar file to BB10

If you created bar file using eclipse plugin, you don't need any installer. you can just right click on your bar file (within eclipse) and click install. But before that, you should have configured the target. Default IP is 169.254.0.1. And also your device should be in development mode. I think you must have done all these. Just try installing repeatedly. You might have luck atleast once :smileyhappy: Eclipse plugin is kind of buggy.

Re: Installing .bar file to BB10

The Eclipse plugin is indeed a little buggy. For me it's always a question if it will work this time or not. That is why I decided to always use the DDPB tool from now on.

Re: Installing .bar file to BB10

BAR files can be best resembled by a RAR file. They contain a lot of different files that are grouped together like a RAR file. So if you want to see the contents of the BAR file, use tools that you would use for RAR files. I am on a Windows system, where I use the WinRar application to open the BAR files.
