Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

Please note that if you signed up for the 2.0 beta and installed it over the air you will need to wait approximatly 24 hours before you can downgrade.  Otherwise, your BlackBerry PlayBook will reapply the upgrade during the first bootup after the downgrade has been installed.  This does not apply to developers who received a BlackBerry PlayBook with 2.0 beta pre-installed.  You are able to downgrade at any time.

Re: Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

I have waited 24 hours, and restored from a previous backup (v1.07).

However, after I restore my backup I am still at OS 2.0. There is no update done, it's just at 2.0

OH and I've also lost every single icon except the browser!!

How do I either a) Reinstall the OS 1.07 or B) Reinstall the full OS 2.0 with all the application icons?

Re: Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

Restoring from a backup does not downgrade the OS.  You can find the downgrade instructions here:  http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Plug-in-for-Android/Downgrading-From-Tablet-OS-2-0...

Re: Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

OK, small progress. Restored from another backup image, and this time I got all of the applications I installed, but I am still missing the built in apps: App World, Documents To Go, Camera, etc...

Ugh, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

PS I followed the downgrade instructions. When I plug in my blackberry playbook nothing happens. If I select  "Update" I get the message that no new updates are available

Did you start the process with your PlayBook turned off?

Re: Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

I have also followed all of the instructions you posted and still it doesn't work.

And.... I started with my PB turned off!!!

I've removed and reinstalled all the DM software, and tried to complete the roll back on three diff computers including our Mac and still no go!

Frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

Yes, I started with the power off. In desperation I also tried the following:

1. Security wipe of PB

2. Complete the startup (time, etc...)

2a. NOTE: When this completes the only icons are the Browser and Setup icons. No other system icons (e.g. Appworld, Help, Camera)

2b. OS is still listed as 2.0

3. Loaded DM on a new PC that I had not used with PB before

4. Powered off PB

5. Started DM

6. Plugged PB in via USB to PC

7. It detects the PB as a new device and asks if I want to transfer settings are start new

8. I select to start as new device and give it a name

9. Still no prompt to 'Install" and when I go to "Update" it says no new Updates for Tablet OS

9a. OS listed as 2.0 in DM

????

Re: Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

Did you wait 24 hours after registering for the 2.0 beta?  You won't be able to downgrade until that has expired.

Re: Note to those trying to downgrade from beta 2.0

I did wait the 24 hours.

I think I figured out the issue. A bit of user error, though the directions could be clarified IMHO.

I ran through the sequence one more time, and noticed that there is a message box that pops up right as the PB powers up and DM first detects it.This dialog says that it cannot get to the device and gives 3 options: Retry, Update, or Cancel (or something along those lines)

IMPORTANT: This box eventually goes away when the PB fully boots and the first few times I tried this I must have missed that dialog!

I tried it again, and instead of waiting for the PB to fully boot I selected Update on this initial dialog. After some time to connect I got a dialog that indicated the Tablet OS was being downloaded.

Fingers crossed that this fixes it.

Perhaps a small clarification in the directions to help those that may walk away from their PC during the boot up.
