QNXMediaPlayer: outputs error when MediaPlayer.prepare() is called

When my app calls MediaPlayer.prepare() to play an mp3 audio clip, I see the following in the logcat output:

01-29 22:57:29.572: D/QNXMediaPlayer(7311476): mm-renderer speed: 1000
01-29 22:57:29.572: D/QNXMediaPlayer(7311476): mm-renderer state: idle
01-29 22:57:29.573: E/QNXMediaPlayer(7311476): initialize, attach input failure: error 1

Any idea what could cause this error?

Prior to calling prepare(), above, I call MediaPlayer.setDataSource() which results in the following output (which looks okay to me):

01-29 22:57:29.570: D/QNXMediaPlayer(7311476): Get path(/accounts/1000/appdata/sys.android.gYABgKAOw1czN6neiAT72SGO.ns/data/data/com.scannerradio/cache/1359500249316.mp3) from fd
01-29 22:57:29.570: D/QNXMediaPlayer(7311476): snifftrack: whitelisted extension .mp3
01-29 22:57:29.571: I/MediaPlayerService(7311476): create QNXMediaPlayer
