Serious Bug in Time class

Hi!

I found a bug in the "Time" class which makes it unusable and I would like to report it, but it seems that the Issue Tracker is broken for about two months now. So I will just report it here:

When using

Time test = new Time("Atlantic/Reykjavik");
test.set(1372550400000L);

on Android and BlackBerry, then test.gmtoff is 0 on Android and -5268 on BlackBerry afterward. 0 is the correct value (GMT+0), whereas -5268 (the offset in seconds from GMT) isn't even a full hour. This also makes all computations using this class wrong and makes the class unusable under BlackBerry.

Because the Issue Tracker seems to be broken (it loads in an endless loop as reported by several users in the "Java Development" Forum here) for two months now I wonder what is the best way to report bugs now? It would be great if someone from BlackBerry could respond or could fix the Issue Tracker. Thank you very much!

Kind regards

Dominique

Re: Serious Bug in Time class

Hello!

I am able to access the developer jira with my BB ID and see the reported BB10 issues. It isn't fast but it loads for me: https://www.blackberry.com/jira

Regards,

Imre

Re: Serious Bug in Time class

Hello Imre,

thank you for your response! That's interesting, when I try to open the link https://www.blackberry.com/jira I can sign in using my BB ID and then the browser starts to load the page https://www.blackberry.com/jira/secure/Dashboard.jspa in an endless loop. I tried it with Google Chrome, Safari and Mozilla Firefox under Mac OS, then with Google Chrome under Windows 7 and I even tried it on an Android tablet with the same result.

Several other people seem to have the same problem at the end of this thread:

Which browser and operating system are you using?

Kind regards

Dominique

Re: Serious Bug in Time class

I believe a while ago there was a bug around cookies for the Jira site.

If you clear your cache/history, do you still get the infinite loop?

Re: Serious Bug in Time class

Hi,

It works for me from any browser. Normally I use the latest Firefox and Chrome (Win7 x64).

I hope that clearing the cookies will help.

Re: Serious Bug in Time class

Hi Justin,

I tried to clear all cookies and the cache in the Mozilla Firefox browser and tried it again. It still doesn't work, it still loads the page https://www.blackberry.com/jira/secure/Dashboard.jspa in an infinite loop. To ensure that it can really not be caused by cookies or a cache, I tried it again on an iPad that has never seen the BlackBerry page before (as far as I remember). I had to enter my BB ID and afterward it tried to load the page in an infinite loop, too.

I even let it load for a few minutes, but it doesn't change anything, it doesn't stop. Maybe it depends on the used BB ID?

Kind regards

Dominique

Re: Serious Bug in Time class

Hmm, that is very odd then. I'm not experiencing the same issues on any of my browsers or computers. I don't believe what you're seeing would be tied to your BBID.

Regardless, I've gone ahead and filed the bug.

You can follow the status here:https://www.blackberry.com/jira/browse/BBTEN-1373

Thanks :smileyhappy:

Re: Serious Bug in Time class

Hi Justin,

thank you for creating the bug report! Nevertheless it would be nice if the redirect loop would be fixed. When trying to open the link of your BBTEN-1373 bug, I get the following results in Google Chrome and Safari:

And it doesn't work with the iPad either.

Anyway, thank you for your help! If you fix the Jira bug, please let me know! :-)

Kind regards

Dominique
