A world of inspiration is waiting for users at the new BlackBerry® App World™ storefront. The sleek new storefront experience lets users discover incredible apps to personalize their BlackBerry® smartphone, so users can kick back with the hottest entertainment and social networking apps around. When users are in work mode, they can find great new ways to get access the information they want and need, and boost their productivity. It all starts on the home screen, where rotating banners show off what’s new and exciting. Apps, games, and themes now have their own channels, and each one offers up a wide range of categories. If users want to know which apps are grabbing everyone’s attention, they can scope out top lists (categorized by “Paid”, “Free”, and “Rated”), as well as new arrivals. When there’s a hot new offer, users can find out quickly and easily what it’s all about and see if it’s right for them. If users see a cool new app on a friend’s BlackBerry smartphone, they can scan the app’s barcode and make it theirs— just like that. Apps from BlackBerry App World complement the core features on a user’s BlackBerry smartphone to bring their world together. And, now with a wide range of ways to browse, download, buy, and manage apps using their BlackBerry smartphone, desktop or laptop computer, or BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet—inspiration is at a user’s fingertips.
Send a gift request:
Instead of buying an item from the BlackBerry App World storefront, users can ask a BlackBerry Messenger contact to buy it for them. When a user’s BBM contact responds to a user’s gift request and purchases the item, users can download the item from the My World screen.
Hide items intended for adult, mature, or teen audiences:
Each item in the BlackBerry App World storefront is assigned a rating based on the audience that it is intended for. Users can filter the content they see in BlackBerry App World, and lock their settings using a four-digit password.
Default Carrier Billing:
If a user does not have a preferred payment method set up, carrier billing becomes the default payment method (if available).
