Universal Device Service extends the mobile device management capabilities of BlackBerry® Mobile Fusion - providing your organization with administration and management options for iOS and Android™ devices.
Through the same familiar BlackBerry administrative interface, the Universal Device Service enables administrators to perform a number of tasks.
Gatekeeping allows administrators to block unauthorized devices from configuring Microsoft ActiveSync to connect to an organization's infrastructure and access work email.
Using a proxy server provides an additional layer of security for organizations who need to access the Internet for certain functions, such as the APNs certificate signing service, and eases deployment for organizations.
This feature can provide an additional layer of security for organizations that need to prevent the enterprise CA from being exposed to the Internet.
This feature does not require the TouchDown app on selected Motorola devices that run Android OS. The Universal Device Service 6.2 configures the email and organizer data apps using the Motorola EDM API. If the TouchDown app is installed on these selected devices, the TouchDown app will be configured first.
