Announcing BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System Version 5.1 Service Pack 1

BlackBerry Mobile Voice System Version 5.1 Service Pack 1 was released today, November 04, 2011.

With BlackBerry Mobile Voice System (BlackBerry MVS) users can use their BlackBerry smartphones to place or receive calls from their desk phone number. Calls made through BlackBerry MVS are routed and anchored in the organization’s phone system, helping ensure adherence to organizational policies.  BlackBerry MVS calls are initiated directly in the native phone client and can be made over Wi-Fi® at work, at home, or in Wi-Fi hotspots.

Note: A GSM/CDMA BlackBerry smartphone is required to use BlackBerry MVS 5.1.



BlackBerry MVS Client

    • BlackBerry MVS only calling option: When the administrator enables the BlackBerry MVS only calling option,incoming calls to the cellular line are not presented (neither audibly nor visually) to the user.
    • No Data calls: When users are in an area with voice coverage but no data coverage, theycan still make BlackBerry MVS calls.

BlackBerry MVS Server

    • Call Recording: The BlackBerry MVS Server does not record calls. However, you can integrate with a 3rd party call recording solution to record BlackBerry MVS calls.
    • BlackBerry MVS only calling option: The administrator can restrict the user to only use the BlackBerry MVS line to make and take calls.
    • No Data Coverage Number option: The administrator can configure a phone number so that BlackBerry MVS users can make calls when no data coverage is available.
