why do I keep getting duplicate app icons in home screen?

I had thought it had been fixed w/ 1.0.7.2670 but when I update the facebook app last night, I ended up with 2 facebook app icons in home screen!

Hey rockhammer - saw this myself too.  The team is working on it now.  You can delete the older icon for now.  It won't happen again.

and how about the notifications (exclaimation marks on top left corner) telling me there are updates for apps but most of the time I already have the latest versions?

We're aware of that one too - just a disconnect in timing between the OS and AW on when upgrades notifications are delivered.  WIll be updated soon.

Re: why do I keep getting duplicate app icons in home screen?

Hi rockhammer and welcome to the forums!

A hard reset of the device after doing the FaceBook upgrade will usually clear the old icon.

As far as the App World "phantom" notifications try clearing the App World cache.

Thanks,

There tend to be a lot of phantom notifications with the bridge apps as well, but I guess this doesnt belong in the grilling of the App World celeb.

Re: why do I keep getting duplicate app icons in home screen?

bifocal's suggestion is the answer for now. my fiancee has same problem when moving icons around on her 9780 - she ends up with more than 3 copies of the icon.

a reboot of the phone by pressing alt+caps+del fixes this.

Re: why do I keep getting duplicate app icons in home screen?

thanks for the suggestions, folks.

to clarify, i was referring to my playbook. the only way that deletes duplicate app icons on my playbook is to: delete the app, then manually delete any remaining icons still in the homescreen, then reinstall the app.

oh in that case the reboot procedure is holding down the volume keys and the power key for 15 seconds lol
