taking credit cards

I have a problem i am a loyal blackberry fan and dont wont to go to a another phone, with my business I going to have to start taking credit cards payments with my phone.  I have talk to my local carrier which is verizion, they cant help me.  I needed my blackberry bold to take credit card over the phone.  I know that other phone like iphone will do, and anroid phones.  I really want to keep my blackberry, I can upgrade to the new Q10 mphone if it able to take the credit cards over the phone.

Can some please tell me if blackbery 10 phones will able to take credit card payments.  The is a must and asap with my business.

Thanks loyal blackberry user

Re: taking credit cards

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I've not tried this, so I've no idea if it will work or not. But, since the card readers as well as the software is usually free (from the major payment processors), testing would be free to accomplish.

For your legacy device, you would have no choice but to obtain, from a credit card processor, a card reader as well as software that is compatible with your specific BB device model and OS level...there is no alternative.

But, for BB10, what I suggest is obtaining an Android compatible card reader along with the Android software. If you can find the ability to convert the APK file to BAR (or, better still, find an already converted BAR file), you can side-load the software to BB10, and perhaps have full functionality.

This is by no means guaranteed, btw...there are several complexities involved with side-loaded apps, and it is entirely possible that it will not work...but, again, the testing process is at least free.

Please understand that the key impediment here is not BlackBerry. BlackBerry does not produce the card readers nor the necessary software. Rather, it is the producers of those items that choose what platforms they will support...if they choose to not support BlackBerry, then that is an issue to be taken up with them, and hopefully convince them to do so.

Good luck!
