ActiveSync question - Sent items

I have a client who does not want to keep any sent items in her Outlook "Sent" folder. When she was on BES we could manage this, but since moving to a Q10 that uses ActiveSync whenever she sends a message from the BB it syncs back to her Sent folder in Outlook.

Does anyone have any suggestions to stop the syncing back to Outlook?

Re: ActiveSync question - Sent items

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Nope...the ability to save Sent Items to the server is actually one of the features that those not on BES have been desiring for a long time...it was possible with only a few email services prior to BB10, but now works with nearly all of them. But, there is no setting to defeat it.

Have you considered updating BES to BES 10 and then activating there? If so, you might be able to manage it the same way you previously did.

Otherwise, maybe a Server Rule that immediately deletes anything that arrives in the Sent Items folder?

Beyond that, I can't think of anything...unless perhaps you degrade all the way down to POP rather that AS. I am not positive, but I think that POP can't place Sent Items onto the server when sending via the SMTP server...but you would want to test to be sure.

Good luck!

Re: ActiveSync question - Sent items

Both POP and IMAP can use a SMTP server so that none are kept in sent items in outlook but thos older protocols are not the most robust compared to Exchange Active Sync
