Re: Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS

Contacts stored locally on the device, not the sim or in the cloud.

Again, that is possible on the Z10. Absolutely possible.

If users have questions about how to use their Z10, please start a new thread.

The are called "Local Contacts" on the Z10.

Re: Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS

Ok then let's take a step back because the original feature request was to have the option to only see them (local contacts) in the contact app.

Right now there's :

All
Favorites
Bbm video
Bbm
LinkedIn
Facebook
Gmail (because I use this to sync my contacts)
Sim

Re: Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS

Yep, let's do...

In your list, you don't have any "Local Contacts" therefore that list is not shown.

Same on mine (two Z10 devices). One shows the SIM list and I have some SIM card contacts on the SIM.

My other Z10 doesn't show the SIM contacts, because I have NO contacts residing ON the SIM card.

Same as if you removed ALL your LinkedIn contacts or unsubscribed from the account, then your list above would not show "LinkedIn" in that list.

Make sense?

Re: Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS

Makes sense but I think I know what kmascoll is referring to. There should be a way to copy contacts from a synced account such as Gmail to the phone. This way, if you delete Gmail your contacts won't vanish. There should be an 'Import from <account>' option.

Re: Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS

Sort of makes sense,

But I don't have any sim or favorites either and they're shown.

Ok,

I selected sim in the contacts menu and created a new contact named J Sanders. After saving and selecting sim again I see the new contact so it's saved to the sim.

I then selected all, and created another contact named J sands. There was no option for local contacts but when I selected sim again both were there. J sands was automatically linked to local, Gmail and sim.

So while i get what you're saying, I also get what audhie was getting at. I wouldn't use local contacts because Google has me hooked and I carry 3 phones, but the ability to store contacts on the device then see only those contacts can be a useful feature for some.

Not sim contacts, but contacts that are stored on the actual device.

Re: Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS

Good enough.

I understand the request. But I think most of what is being requested is already there.

Perhaps, a better overall feature request would "Please fix the screwed up contacts application"  lol

Because it's very very overall glitchy.

Re: Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS

[ Edited ]

My request was well explained by kmascoll. thanks kmascoll.

J Sanders,

you need to change your second z10 to either android or iPhone. lol.. (jk)

maybe you are confuse about "phone contacts"

as explained by kmascoll it is "contacts stored in the device itself". we can say it as "Local contacts"

the feature in z10 is already good enough, its not screwed up for me. its just need a little bit addition.

we can select whether we want to see only facebook contacts, or select only sim contacts, or only BBM contacts.

what if I only want to see "Local contacts". I doubt you can find that feature.

as what kmascoll said, we have to choose All to see "Local contacts" which is very very very annoying to see all other contacts (facebook, BBM, BBM video, sim, gmail) mixed around the contact list.

Ok, what I did to show only my "Local contacts" . (Just turn other contacts OFF)

- Goto Contacts

- Swipe down and go to setting

- Turn OFF all "Show Account in Contact List"

- Press Back

- Swipe Right and choose All.

This way makes the feature looks useless. its there but we turn everything OFF. lol..

*Please dont mix around Local Contacts with Sim Contacts*

Please use plain text.

Re: Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS

The only confusion I had was trying to determine and guess what one means by "phone contacts".

That's why I very politely asked you to define what you consider "phone contacts".

You have it figuured out now.
Good luck.
