My Device: BlackBerry Z10 Ltd Edition

Re: BB10 updates for SE devices -

My Limited Edition may go in a drawer and just be used for dev work until there's an update. Today I've had a phone call apparently going for 11 hours "Ending Call" to my voicemail.

Then sound stopped working until after another reboot. And Twitter's showing raw HTML for some tweets.

Re: BB10 updates for SE devices -

I've just done a 'Check for software updates' with no SIM card in and have got 10.0.10.82 downloading now.

I was going to try the leaked 648 firmware, but I couldn't get BlackBerry Link to backup the existing device.

@Jaffa
Did you check for the software update on you phone or via the browser web plugin oder Link?
Which (host) platform did you use? Which country are you in? I'm in Austria, have no put a SIM in my LE and no update – stuck on ancient version :smileysad:

Re: BB10 updates for SE devices -

On the device, through Settings > Software update. Device is Z10 Limited Edition/STL100-1 in the UK, was previously on 10.0.9.<whatever>.

The exact steps I did were:

  1. Decide to give up on BB10 as main device whilst it's on the version it's on
  2. Take battery out, take SIM card out, put SIM card back in Nokia N9
  3. Notice that N9's forgotten all my contacts and the tracker database is corrupt
  4. Sigh & curse. Consider blasphemy that maybe Elop was right.
  5. Download leaked 10.0.10.648 for STL100-1.
  6. Install BlackBerry Link on Mac to try and backup device. Connection fails when trying to backup.
  7. Put device in flight mode & try again.
  8. Install BlackBerry Link on Windows VM to try and backup device. Can't get it to connect to device.
  9. Turn off flight mode.
  10. Go in to Settings > Software update and click Check for updates
  11. Gasp in surprise.

Not all of these steps may have been strictly necessary. YMMV ;-)

Re: BB10 updates for SE devices -

Thanks a lot! Looks like I have to buy a Nokia N9 first :smileywink:
I have the same STL100-1 (but in Austria) which sounds great - even though I would have loved an LTE enabled version, but they didn't add Austria to their list AFTER I requested trade-up :smileysad:

I'm just the messenger on this one. Some folks on this thread have come up with interesting approaches to getting the latest OS, but there is nothing official available just yet.

Dont worry, will not shoot the messenger :smileyhappy:

I agree, I am just waiting for my limited edition device so any update problem so far does not worry me :smileyhappy: but tomorrow may be different  :smileyhappy:
