Today my device was unlocked after emailing to  help@blackberry.com .

Late report, but my device got unlocked few days after posting to btsdevalpha@blackberry.com (thanks for suggesting) whilst help@blackberry stayed silent. I won't risk a sim card anytime soon in it. Fortunately the apps I will work on don't require phone calls/sms tests.
