Email from TMGIDeas, Spam?

Hey all,

I received an email this morning from a Bob Fleming supposedly with Touchstone regarding the BlackBerry Alpha trade up program. The email looks way too much like spam. Wanted to check if anyone else verified the email is legit. Its from RFleming@TMGIdeas.com but I'm not sure how thats even a part of Touchstone.

It states:

"My name is Bob Fleming. I am on the Blackberry team, and am reaching out to obtain your information so I can retrieve your device.
If you would please provide the following:
Name
Address - (Please NO PO Boxes)
City, State, Zip - if outside the US - Country and Postal Code

Phone number

If FedEx is not available in your area, please let me know services which are most convenient."

The structure and everything about this email screamed phishing scam to me. The obvious mispelling of 'BlackBerry' and straight forward "give me your information" made me second guess the message. Especially since the my trade-up program shipping information was already provided on the online form.

If anyone knows anything about this message, please share :smileyhappy:
If this is a phishing email, hopefully it stops others from responding!

Thanks.

TMGideas.com should be okay (they're outsourced to handle these promotions), but make certain that your reply is actually going to them and not being redirected somewhere else.

Re: Email from TMGIDeas, Spam?

I received a similar mail from Ruth Whelan <Ruth.Whelan@mdalimited.co.uk>. The mail wasn't exactly the same, but the same information was asked.

I had already sent my device, so that made it look much more weird to me. Because why would BlackBerry contact me again for something I had already sent at least one week before the mail. But I replied that I had already sent the device and I received a reply some time later that there was probably a mistake in the server.

A friend of mine had also received the same mail as I did, from the same person.

Re: Email from TMGIDeas, Spam?

Thanks for the replies. That email was to schedule a pickup for the dev alpha device. Though I sent that back some time ago.

I don't recall receiving any confirmation it was received. I had two devices that I sent back as soon as I got the email stating they were eligible for trade up with the attached UPS shipping form. I'd say this was over a month ago. When did confirmation emails go out?

Re: Email from TMGIDeas, Spam?

I received a mail that my devices had arrived about 10 days after I shipped them.

Re: Email from TMGIDeas, Spam?

Hi,

I contacted jamzonesupport@blackberry.com about this and someone at developerrelations@blackberry.com told me that it is ok.

They are the warehouse coordinating receiving the dev alphas.
