Re: How to change the approved free app to paid

No way you can change it yourself but you can contact the Vendor Support to do so.

Go back to your Vendor Portal main page, look out for "For Questions or Support please contact Vendor Support." at the botton right of the page. Click on the vendor support and fill the form.

Make sure you include your APP ID for the amendment.

Cheers

The best way to change the price point of an approved application is to submit a new release with the desired price point. Thus, posting a free release will change a paid app to free once the new release is approved. EDIT: However this does not hold true for changing an app from free to paid.

This is the best practice method. Emailing support may take longer and does not permit a further price change to the same release.

See comment below in regards to the Payment Service to change an app to paid.

Re: How to change the approved free app to paid

@bvanengelen, I wish that was the best solution. But in my case it took 3 weeks to get my app (which was a minor update) approved. While it only took 7 days in total I think to get the price changed via Vendor Support.

@bvanengelen, how "to submit a new release with the desired price point" ? I cannot find such option in free applications, can you make it clear please.

Re: How to change the approved free app to paid

Indeed, as Infoistic mentioned, there is no way to specify the price when you add a new release. The price is determined in the overall application, and cannot be changed by adding a new release to it.

If I remember correctly, last time I had to change the price information there was no way to this myself. Could be it has already been changed, but as far as I see now, this is still not available.

The only working solution would still be to ask Vendor Support. This is the only way I am certain of that works.

Due to issues that users are having downloading new releases for applications that are switched from free to paid, we are no longer changing application from free to paid.  Please look at our payment SDK for options: https://developer.blackberry.com/develop/platform_services/payment.html

Once an application is free it cannot be changed to paid. If an application is paid, a new free release can be posted but then the application cannot go paid thereafter.

Sorry all for any confusion on this.

Re: How to change the approved free app to paid

Worst of all you posting in the wrong forum, so you may never get help.

Suggestion: make a pro version of your app which includes new features and make that paid.

If it helped you, click like. :smileyhappy:

Re: How to change the approved free app to paid

Making a separate pro version, could possibly lead to maintaining multiple apps (free and paid).

You could offer an in-app upgrade to a feature complete (pro) version, which allows you to maintain just one application. IMO this is a more elegant solution.
