Incorrect LEs sent out in EMEA region??

I've just received an email saying I need to return my LE as it's been sent out 'incorrectly within the EMEA region'. Apparently there's going to be a follow-up email sometime soon with details of where to send it.

Has anyone else got one of these emails and does anyone know why it is the wrong version?

Yes, others are getting the same email.

It's the wrong version because some users got  -1 devices in regions where a -2 is preferred.

Re: Incorrect LEs sent out in EMEA region??

I have also received the mail. This because I have the *-1 version while I should have received the *-2. But the only real difference between those devices is the 4G as far as I know.

But 4G is not really implemented by my provider, so for me it doesn't really make sense to trade my device. Because that would mean that I wouldn't have a phone for at least a week (I guess).

So I replied to Jam Zone that I would rather just keep my device. They replied (almost instantly) that this isn't a problem and I could just keep my device. So I would suggest to others that received the device, think about it if you really need the other device?

Thanks - that's a shame.

I gave it as a present to someone who'd helped me - looks like I'll have to prise it out of their hands at some point

Well, part of the issue will be in getting an updated OS pushed to you if you're not in an area for the -1 or with a SIM for a -1 device, or vice versa.

Hmhm, indeed an update will a little harder then. But I'll just use BlackBerry Link, or flash a new version on it.

True, and you'll save waiting, delivery, returns, issues.

Re: Incorrect LEs sent out in EMEA region??

I got this as well

I was suspicious as many scams start this way

Having inspected teh email it appear legit

Now you have to ask yourself if you need to trade up again?

Personally my Z10 I find my a wonderful device. Its only got 10.0.9.2372 but my DA-C is on 10.1.0.1184

I'm keeping my LE unless advised by admin (my next email) I should return it

I'll keep you all informed

Re: Incorrect LEs sent out in EMEA region??

I'm thinking of several implications for both trading up and keeping the original device. I've contacted BlackBerry Development Relations to verify this. I've sent them the following:

"Thank you very much for this opportunity. However, I do have some questions.

How would the trade be implemented? Do we send in our devices and (once received by BlackBerry) get sent a replacement? Or does the trade happen on premise (immediately at my door) ?

I'm asking this because I've sold my previous phone since I've received my Z10 LE and am currently using this as my primary and thus only phone. You can understand that I want to avoid being unreachable to my clients.

If I choose to retain this device instead of trading it in for the STL100-2, will updates be guaranteed for my devices? This is currently the greatest issue. I'm still at 10.0.9.2372 on my STL100-1."

I will keep you guys updated on any feedback I receive.

Re: Incorrect LEs sent out in EMEA region??

Same problem in APAC. We have been sent a 100-1 while the operators here support 100-2. Would love to see how it goes for you all. Maybe we get a replacement too :smileyhappy:
