I talked with UPS China phone center. The rep said they can not ship phone with battery from individual.
Regardless above warning, I stopped by UPS China World Trade Center location. They refused to ship too after checking the phone and asked me to remove the battery. I do not know how to open it.
What should I do? Can I drop the dev device to RIM's local office? Or how to open the device to remove the battery?
Got reply from clientcare@brandalliance.com. I shipped the device to a Shenzhen address by SF Express. Then they will take care of it from there. Hope everything will be fine. Waiting....
I am facing the same issue from UPS ahmedabad ,India location.I had also sent the mail on clientcare@brandalliance.com and they told me to ship the device after removing battery but I have dev alpha A. In which I don't have any idea about how to remove the battery from this device.
You say you've contacted clientcare@brandalliance.com, why can't you ask them what you should do? Because apparantly they could help others with about the same problem. I guess they will be able to help you too.

Because Shenzhen is just miles away from Hongkong, the carrier can ship it to HK easily. I am not sure about India. They should figure out a logic way to ship it out of India.
That email is working for me. I got reply in one day. If there is no reply in 3 days, you can send them another email.
