Re: what will happen with the alpha dev from January 30

in order to avoid us waiting it will be a good idea to give the "old" dev alpha to the messenger who bings up us the Liminted ed. so no time to wait, and only one messenger visit.

Re: what will happen with the alpha dev from January 30

I Wouldn't call it full OS yet..

a newer version of the BlackBerry 10 SDK OS but with a slight twist.

Re: what will happen with the alpha dev from January 30

It's clearly not going to be full OS based on that. Just says what it will have, which is nice, but it would have said full if they meant full. Don't expect all the other system apps, for example...

Re: what will happen with the alpha dev from January 30

Yay!!!

That is great news, and I believe RIM have just listened to developers who gave them feedback for Alpha devices. I also wrote them about my concerns and I'm glad they are listening good :smileyhappy:

Very happy, and glad that if my game doesn't qualify for the LE offer, I will still be able to use the Alpha device to develop further :smileyhappy:

For example? What system apps will miss?

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn - this is the external apps and they will be available via AppWorld

I think we will see too many dev alphas on ebay like a new BB10 device now :smileysad:

Re: what will happen with the alpha dev from January 30

Until the announcement on January 30 of what system apps will be included, it's hard to say what other goodies will be missing from the Dev Alpha, but I'm pretty sure that the camera app with the "time machine" feature will probably not be loaded onto the Dev Alpha.

In any case, developers have agreed to return the Dev Alpha when the program expires and they will be automatically disabled at some point (probably in March). They are not allowed to be sold on eBay and anyone who bought such a device which was disabled shortly afterwards would not be at all happy.

Re: what will happen with the alpha dev from January 30

Well, the Dev Alpha already has the "time machine" camera....

We've also just been told that in addition to the things it has now, it will get only three more things: Hub, phone, and Maps.
