Re: A New BlackBerry 10.1 Update Available Starting Today

Thanks for your response.

Luckily I've got the desktop software picking up the phone and downloading the update via the desktop software rather than Over The Air. Fingers crossed that'll work.

I don't understand why BB don't provide proper technical support. The networks tend not to know enough. Usually if you bought a technical product from any other manufacturer (not limited to phones), usually the manufacturer would provide support

Success! Luckily I used the desktop software and it installed the new version and didn't freeze on the purple BB logo. Just restoring my data - we'll see how that goes

Re: A New BlackBerry 10.1 Update Available Starting Today

I don't want to appear negative however after spending hours doing a factory reset and reinstalling a known good back up my Z10 was still screwed. I couldn't make a call or open a text message. The few apps that I tried worked fine but it looks like the phone and text functions were corrupt.

I returned my BlackBerry to O2 and thier in store Guru checked the phone using additional software provided by BlackBerry but no joy.

I sent my phone away (via) O2 for repair and according to the online tracker I have been sent a replacement phone.

I'm obviously not the only one who has experienced these difficulties so hopefully it will be rectified quickly.

Re: A New BlackBerry 10.1 Update Available Starting Today

Luckily restoring my backup worked wonders.

BB support via Twitter just pointed me in the direction of this: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?externalId=KB34666&sliceId=2&cmd=displayKC&d...

I hope it helps anyone that is stuck.

Re: A New BlackBerry 10.1 Update Available Starting Today

Was that an official update, over the air update through the phone?

Instead of downgrading, I would upgrade to something higher, like 10.1.0.4687

And during the backup and restore process, do not restore the App Data part of the backup.

Re: A New BlackBerry 10.1 Update Available Starting Today

yes it was an official update over the air and through the phone via my phone provider and via my wifi.

how do i upgrade to something higher like 10.1.0.4687

do i have to wait till my phone provider get into their system ?

so till then i will have to accept what i have on my phone.

or is there any other way ?

Re: A New BlackBerry 10.1 Update Available Starting Today

My phone has advised me that there is a new update available - 10.1.0.4181.

When I first bought my Z10, I upgraded to the then new version, 10.1.0.273, and as a result, I was no longer able to sync with my Exchange server. I was not the only victim. The upgrade was irreversible, and finally, BlackBerry Singapore replaced the phone free of charge. This was in May.

I am still running 10.0.10.90, which has numerous interface issues, and want to upgrade. Reading these comments, it seems that it is not safe to do so.

Can I get any sort of reassurance on this?

Before anyone tells me that I should check with my carrier, I live in Oman, and the phone was purchased in Singapore.

I really want to like this phone, but...
