Does BALANCE allow roaming when in BIZ mode and Non Roaming when in personal mode

So my daughter has a question...she has 2 BB9900's - one for work, one for personal use...

So when I explained how BALANCE should allow her to have 1 phone for both ...she came back with this question...

How and who covers the roaming charges, etc?

When she travels globally, her work wants her phone on and available..but she doesn't have her personal BB9900 on roaming so as to avoid all the extra data billing...thus 2 phones...

Does the new BALANCE allow for the separation such that the work side would still be on roaming settings? while the personal was off...???

Is there somewhere this is fully detailed...as she hesitates to make the step over...

A better question is whether or not her work will be supporting and providing BES10 for her to use, if not she won't have Blackberry Balance available anyway. Smiley Happy

If they do, then it is best if she asks what their IT policy is regarding this question.

[ Edited ]

There is only one SIM card that goes into the phone, so if she will be using the company provided SIM in the phone then I believe she will be using their data for both sides, unless she pops her own SIM into the phone, then she will be using her data for both sides. Smiley Wink

I suggest that her best route is to contact the International LAW firm's IT department and ask them what their policy is. Smiley Happy

Balance has nothing to do with dataplans.

It controls the work space on the device.

What ever SIM is in the phone, that SIMs dataplan will be used.

Re: Does BALANCE allow roaming when in BIZ mode and Non Roaming when in personal mode

Don't take my reply as short...
This is a valid question...
If it uses 1 SIM..I understand the implications...
but in point of fact...the FIRM isn't likely to want to be responsible for bookkeeping personal charges..nor should they...

so there must be a work-around...
I think BALANCE needs to be explained for the layman as well...
So many questions come to mind besides the Privacy (assumed Privacy)
I would think that the SIM card has a non-firm liability...(ie...personal)
this needs to be clearly explained...so that BB users can make the transition knowing that the separation has been well thought through...

She already told me that they have debated this issue amongst users with no clear understanding of the implications...
Some feel 2 phones is easier to separate the control isssues...while others prefer the physical benefits of 1 phone..
So where is the sales pitch showing PRO's
that is what I am asking ....
BlackBerry...give me ammunition to convince her and others...

I disagree...

Company issued plans are company responsability...and therefore charges...

Wrong

Both BES 5 and BES Express 5 have Balance for Java devices.

IT Policy does not control Roaming on BES Express. It is made for BYOD with out interfering with users personal space.

Re: Does BALANCE allow roaming when in BIZ mode and Non Roaming when in personal mode

Thanks again..but once again..the issue isn't BALANCE so much as:
Whether users are using their own device or one provided to them,

PROVIDED..explain the roaming issues...??? in the context of what I explained...

It can't be that difficult..can it?
