Mobile->WiFi switching issue

Ok, I have a new question.

My Device:
Z10 STL100-3
Software 10.2.1.537
OS 10.2.1.1925
WLan 1.1
Radio 10.2.1.1899

I noticed it said "limited connection", no wifi symbol in corner while I was at home.
Checked wifi: still shows connected.
Ping: pings my router fine.
Check my internet IP on website(what they see me as):  IP is my mobile(Bell issued)IP
Disable mobile radio and my check IP: now it is using wifi and shows my cable ISP assigned and wifi symbol shows.
Turn back on mobile, wifi still connected but symbol for wifi gone and its only using mobile internet.

I did test a different router, just in case with no change.

I also deleted saved connections, pulled the battery and tried again.(this is a new issue as of today for me)

It seems to prefer mobile now and shows no wifi symbol even when connected if mobile is on.

Even stranger, while in the browser it is using mobile address, I can connect via ssh to a machine inside my local network. I must have a setting wrong?

I have the same problem.

Ir seems that at least one blackberry server used for wifi check does not work

Hmm, Ok I guess I'm not alone then.  I was thinking of reloading the device software but maybe I'll wait and see what others say.

Thanks

Just a workaround: switch off mobile data

Thanks, yep it works if I switch off mobile data.

I don't know why it would need to check in with a server, if I want the wifi on - then I want it on regardless of whether I have an internet connection on my wifi.  Sometimes I will only be doing stuff on the local network and I expect external pages just to fail loading if my router has no internet connection and I have wifi on.

Regardless, I have an internet connection and my wifi works with mobile turned off.

Re: Mobile->WiFi switching issue

It seems that when blackberry phone connects to WiFi, it tries to check if internet connection is really available or not. It do it by trying to access blackberry.net site. That strange, but when I connect to blackberry.net using my WiFi provider - it is unavailable. That why BB tell us that we have limited connection.

And when we switch off mobile data, BB stops connection check and allow us to use WiFi.

Re: Mobile->WiFi switching issue

Well, haven't heard anything official, but it looks like it has been fixed somewhere out there.

Probably just the NSA botched up a splice when they were installing a tap, they're a bunch of slobs. :smileyhappy:

Re: Mobile->WiFi switching issue

Having the same issue right now with both my z30 and my gfs z10. Turning off data services enables wifi and turning data services back on disables it. Restarted everything but no go. Feel like loading the leak just to see what happens.
