Re: Upgrading OS10 devices using Autoloader

Hello;

I used autoloader and finished my update. My carrier last update was 4181 and i try to upgrade 4633. I tried twice. But my version is sitll 4181.

when ı reboot the phone the first things are about languge, gesture tutorials etc. but after gesture tutorials, device says me you have specific files and settings about your region and carrier. I cant pass this notification and ı clicked continue. It downloaded these settings and warns me "now you have latest version 4181"

What am i going to do? Need your help.

Thanks.

Re: Upgrading OS10 devices using Autoloader

Wow, so it didn't upgrade.

After you get the "now you have latest version 4181" , what happens?

good, ok.

Now I don't understand the problem, you have not stated in this thread why you are not happy with OS 10.1.0.4181

Re: Upgrading OS10 devices using Autoloader

Ok three things to check...

  1. From the main screen, swipe down from the top black bezel to Settings > About... what is the MODEL version listed there?
  2. When you downlaoded the file, what is the name of the file you downloaded, look on your PC and tell me.
  3. When you ran the Autoloader file, a black DOS box should have popped up and processed and loaded the OS to your Z10. What did you see, do you remember?

If you need to upgrade to a 10.1.0.xxx operating system and your BB10 device won't upgrade otherwise; or if your over-the-air upgrade failed, try this process.

(there is also a good illustrated step by step located here.)

  • These directions apply to Z10, Q10 and Q5 models.

Check your Model Number at Settings > About!

(OS 10.1.0.4537 and 10.1.0.4633 have been officially released by BlackBerry and the carriers around the world are beginning to roll it out to users.)

  • For Z10 models 100-1, -2, -3, -4: Download the 10.1.0.4537 OS file here
  • For Z10 models 100-1: Download the 10.1.0.4633 OS file here
  • For Z10 models 100-2, -3, -4: Download the 10.1.0.4633 OS file here
  • For Z10 models 100-2, -3, -4: Download the 10.1.0.4687 OS file here
  • For Q10 models 100-1, -2, -3, -4, -5: Download the 10.1.0.4633 OS file here
  • For Q10 models 100-1, -2, -3, -4, -5: Download the 10.1.0.4687 OS file here
  • For Q5 models, download the 10.1.0.4633 OS file here

(you can use these directions with any OS version, I've only posted these releases linked above)

Remember, this process will totally wipe your device, so the backup is important.

  1. Download the file above. Extract it from the ZIP file if it is zipped. If it is a ".rar" file, you will need a WinRar unpacking app on your PC to extract the file.
  2. Connect your BlackBerry to the PC. Using Link, do a backup*(see below) of your phone.
  3. Locate the downloaded file and run the autoloader (double click on the EXE file) and a black DOS window appears indicating "Connecting to bootrom". The DOS window processes the install, and begins to load the OS. If you have a security passwored, you will be asked to enter it.
  4. When the OS loading is complete, your Z10 will reboot. Disconnect from the PC.
  5. At this point, I always hold down the top edge power button a couple of seconds and touch RESTART at the bottom right.
  6. Reconnect to the PC and perform your restore using BlackBerry Link.
  7. Now, you will need to reenter account passwords for email, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

*Additional notes: When you backup using Link, you can make one total backup, or divide that backup into three different databases (Setup | Media | App Data). I always break that backup into the three different databases so that I can restore each separately because I have had some issues with a full restore failing in the App database restore, so then I can safely restore only Settings and Media.

Remember, this process does totally wipe your device, so the backup is important. Reserve about two hours time for the process... performing the backup and restore takes the longest part of the time.

That said, it's relatively easy to do and your device will love it.

Very useful post indeed and very well explained. Thanks for sharing this with the BB community !!  :smileywink:

1.  No. Asked for Settings > About... what is the MODEL version listed there?  Not the OS version.

Re: Upgrading OS10 devices using Autoloader

J S,

I have just updated my OS to 4181 a couple of days ago and am having email problems with MS,Yahoo and Google. Have tried restoring to factory default, deketed all email accounts, and reinstalled. Some emails come in and some don't. Also the  emails are very slow coming in. Never had this problem before uodate 4181. Apparently from what I have read, I am not alone, and myy redeller told me they have had quite a few complaints. Are these updates of the OS Ok for me to install. I have a Z10 Model STL100-3 , software Release 10.1.0.4184, and i am in Canada.
