Brand new here and have been searching this board and elsewhere for this issue but have come up empty.
I got my Z10 on launch day in Canada and love it for the most part. Most of the issues I have had have actually been Telus's fault. (Setting up my Telus email account was a week long nightmare, and all Telus's fault!) One major annoyance, though, is that I am not able to simply send someone an email by typing their address in the bar. For the email to go through, I have to add the person as a contact, even if it is going to be a one time message.
Am I doing something incredibly stupid? Or is it just not possible to do that?
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
When composing an email the email address does not need to be added as a contact. To better assist you can you provide some more detail on where you are prompted to add the email address as a contact?

So just after posting this, I try again for the umpteenth time to address an email to someone not in the contacts list, and wouldn't you know it, it works as expected. Every other time I have tried, the email address has turned red and been surrounded by quotation marks once I press submit.
Not sure why it is working as expected now, but I'll take it!

Grettings...I am having the exact same problem.
From the HUB:
1) select compose
2) select 1 of the 3 gmail account i have (already verified working sending and recieving)
3)in the "To:" line...enter an email address that is NOT in my address book... (specifically, this is a yahoo address)
4) fillout out subkect line and body...
5) the "Send" button is disabled....so I can not send the email.
Also, I've tried the same steps w/ all 3 of my account...no luck. But if I select an address from the address book, the "Send" button is enabled immediately.

That is what had me confused at first. You type an email address and in 10.0 it showed up in red below where you were typing, send is greyed out, and it won't let you type the message. In 10.1, the address you are typing shows up in a blue bar below where you are typing the address, and below that is Look up... You have to tap on the address in the blue bar and THEN you can type a message and the send button is live. It seems silly to me to have to tap to confirm what I have typed, but it makes a bit of sense when you realize that if you type a few letters and they are common to several email addresses in your address book, that all those addresses will show up with the first one highlighted by the blue bar, allowing you to tap on whichever one you intended. Confusing at first, but easy to deal with once you understand the logic.
