Blackberry VM 605

I just purchased a Blackberry VM 605 Visor Speakerphone.

I gave it the initial charge as recommended in the instructions however I don't drive my car enough to keep it charged up.

I would like to use my Blackberry Smartphone home charger as a back up charger.

Can I use the home battery charger that was provided with my Blackberry 8330 Curve Smartphone to charge the battery in my Blackberry VM 605? Is the 8330 Curve charger voltage compatible with my VM 605?

If not is there a home charger on the market that will allow me to home charge my VM 605?

Any input from forum members would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Blackberry VM 605

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Your 8330 Curve smartphone charger unfortunately will not work with the Visor Mount Speakerphone.  This is because the battery charger for your phone uses a miniUSB port while the input for the Visor Mount Speakerphone uses a microUSB port.  The good news is that most other microUSB cables or chargers should work fine.

As a heads up, I've had my Visor Mount since May or June and have only had to charge it once.  If you are not using it to stream music, it will last for a very long time.  If you are streaming music, then that's another story.

I hope this info helps!  And if you need to pick up a charger, any other microUSB charger for cell phones will be sufficient.  :smileyhappy:

Re: Blackberry VM 605

Ebay has some mini to micro USB adapters for 4 dollars or less with free shipping.

Re: Blackberry VM 605

Hi guys, I need your help.

Purchased a VM-605. I paired it easily to my Curve 8310 and use the speakerphone with no problem.

Can connect to my radio stations, but only "un-used stations" which are very staticky and noisy.

Are any of you able to tune it to one of your favorite radio stations? I drive an Accord.

Appreciate the help.

Re: Blackberry VM 605

Let me explain it in more details my prevous post.

I can only listen to phone calls in radio stations that are not transmitting music. Therefore, they have a lot of static and sometimes I can not hear what the person on the other side is saying.

On the radio stations that sound great with music, etc, the device does not connect to when I get a call or need to make one.

Re: Blackberry VM 605

You need to find a band that no station is broadcasting on.

The transmit power of the VM 605 is limited and can not over it.

Re: Blackberry VM 605

Yup, the way this works (if you want to connect it to your stereo system) is that you connect it to an unused radio station, and preferably one that does not have any others within a range.  The VM-605 works by taking the audio from your BlackBerry and then using a FM signal to transmit it to your car's stereo.  It only works if you keep the radio station on your car stereo on the same station you are using for the VM-605 speakerphone at all times.  The idea is that you can use the VM-605 to play music from your BlackBerry on your car's speakers and when a call comes in, it will route the audio for the call through the speakers as well.

If you want to be able to use the radio to listen to music, etc, do what I do.  Don't use the FM transmitter.  You don't need to connect it to your car's speaker system in order for it to work.  It will transmit audio over the speakerphone just fine without the connection.  When I get a phone call, all I do is answer the call and everything is managed over the speakerphone with no interference from the car's speakers or no need for me to have the stereo tuned to a specific radio station.
