I just bought a Blackberry storm from Telus on the student Blackberry 35 plan. It doesn't have a data plan really, but it has unlimited Facebook, Myspace, Windows Live Messenger, and Blackberry Messenger. It also includes unlimited text. I have wifi at home if that helps with anything. I would like to download some apps, so i tried to download blackberry app world from my computer but it said that the usb driver wasn't installed correctly. So I went on Crackberry, but they all seem to require me to go on the browser, which my BB doesn't have. Are there any apps that you can download staight from the computer, not on the browser of my BB? I'm looking for a Weather App and other free apps that don't require a browser. So heres the questions:
1. Why does it say my USB driver isn't installed?
2. Are there any free apps I can download without a data plan?
3. Can I even use apps without a data plan?
4. If so, where can I get these apps?
Thanks so much

Hey!
About 1:
Do you use Firefox or Internet Explorer? It only works on IE.
About 2:
There are. Go to the software.crackberry.com software store and search for apps you want. Some apps have a desktop installer, that means that you can downlaod the app to your PC and isntall it via the Desktop Manager.
About 3:
You can, but not apps that require data from the internet.
About 4:
software.crackberry.com
I strongly advice that you get a data plan. A BlackBerry without a data-plan is useless!

Who is your carrier with that plan? I know a few are offering that plan now.
1. Download Desktop Manager from here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code
2. Sure, lots of them. Look for any apps that have the ALX and COD file installations. Usually referred to as Desktop Installations vs. the OTA installations through the browser.
3. Yes and No. Apps that require a data plan (even you load them via the desktop, like a Weather application, might and likely will still require a data connection to get the weather data. On the other hand, a game like Solitaire, likely won't ever need a data connection.
So the answer is: it depends. Make sense?
4. Well, you gotta look. Start out with Mobihand.com and handdango.com

No you cannot use a Weather App without a data plan. Well yeah you could install it but you cannot update the weather info!
That's like saying: can I use a phone without SIM card?

How is your BlackBerry device gonna "get" the weather data to display to you?
On second thought, try BBWeather, linked below. It should operate from the APN/TCP data, not from the BlackBerry Data Plan.
If you get charged for data from your mobile provider... then that is yours to handle.
