Help! I have been charged twice for apps.

I recently purchased two items from blackberry app world using my phone.

Later that day, I recieved an email saying both payments have failed so I logged onto paypal and paid for both application manually. (as email asked me to do so)

However, i was looking through my online banking today, and found thatI have been charged twice for both items, meaning I have overpaid by £5.58

I cannot find any contact details regarding this issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Contact PayPal first.

Re: Help! I have been charged twice for apps.

I contacted paypal, and they told me that even though they sent me an email saying the transaction failed (and told me to pay manually), I should have ignored it since I had both direct debit and my account details on their site so when one method failed, they charged me using another method *eyes rolling*

Of course, I just followed what the email told me to do, so I paid manually. and this is why I ended up paying twice.

Paypal told me to contact blackberry for refund, but as mentioned previously, there is no approprotae contact details for this issue.

I have already rang 01753 667000 but they told me that they are not the right people to talk to...

Sorry this is a long message but thank you for reading it.

PayPal still should handle it, or the seller.

How would the seller handle it? Developers have no capability to issue refunds. By seller do you mean "BlackBerry"?

BlackBerry is a brand. There are four actors in this transaction :

  • the editor provides a product (the software)
  • RIM provides a shopping mall (BlackBerry App World), you can think it as a local that the editor rents
  • the buyer buys the product
  • Paypal is the payment method

From a Paypal point of view : if there is trouble during the payment transaction, it can be fixed either by Paypal or by RIM, both have been working together to provide a gaetway between BBAW and PayPal.

From a buyer pont of view: the seller and the payment method are responsible to make everything go smooth. If Paypal cannot help you, then the seller can of course initiate a refund by any means. paper check, wire the money to your Paypal accound, to your IBAN bank account, use Western Union or even flying pidgins.
