I am having trouble opening up the App World from my Blackberry. I had no problem downloading it this morning but after several failed attempts to open it I figured I would come to you guys for help. The error message I am getting reads:
Upgrade your service to a plan that includes browsing and discover a world of possibilities at Blackberry App World. Contact your service provider for more details.
I have tried deleting the App and reinstalling it twice. I tried connecting to WiFi and I even tried resetting my device which is a Bold 9000 on AT&T by the way but nothing seems to work. I noticed that alot of people have said that they are having this problem using the BES Server but I have the BB Personal Data Package on my account and all of my other apps and browsers are working perfectly fine so I was wondering if you guys could help out?

Hi,
I am having the same issue, however I am on a Sero plan without BIS/BES. My browser and everything else data related works, but the BlackBerry App World. This is really annoying, and help would be really appreciated.
Thank you,

It seems that Blackberry make an agreement with service provider to be sure we have cell phone internet plan to connect to BB App World.
They block all Wi-Fi connection on their App World Server.
It is not a requirement of PayPal, because I do lot of PayPal transactions on my Blackberry Pearl without any problem.
That's the way they they choose to tell us how they appreciate we don't pay to use internet......

I am in Canada on Rogers Network with a Pearl 8120 and my plan include BIS.

Same problem. I'm on T-Mobile in the UK. Never had any browsing or data download issues in the past. Tried installing from IE8 (RIM insists on Internet Explorer but doesn't support the latest version - duh) and then directly from the handheld.
Is it a permissions issue?
We can't be the only ones...

i'm also on t-mobile UK and have the same problem, and just like you i've never had trouble before.
I emailed them and they told me to check the default browser is web'n'walk in options > advanced options > browser.
but it is the default browser and still no bones! but thought i might mention the above just incase it works for someone else

Storm users in the UK (Vodafone) had this problem yesterday but it was resolved over night and now works.
We had to uninstall App World from our devices and reinstall. This time after the install we have a lengthy list of terms and conditions that we had to agree to and then App World launched.
Here's a link to the Vodafone forum post on this topic:http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=22

There's a KB article that might help some of you
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displ
It didnt work for me since T-mobile uses "T-mobile" Brower instead of the "Internet Browser" I believe the World App software looks for the Internet Browser option before it would run.

This article is OK for the people who already have Internet service from their service provider, but it did not solve the problem of the BB users who use wi-fi to browse on internet.
We still need to PAY to browse the Apps catalog and we need to PAY to download a free app............

A data plan with web browsing is among the minimum requirements listed at
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17619
Essentially, the App World client requires the BlackBerry Internet Browsing Service to be a part of your data plan in order to access App World.
You can find this information here.

You are the third RIM employees sending this reply in 3 different threads. Everybody knows, you want we (RIM customers) purchase an internet plan from our service provider.
I write my question again in uppercase and bold, to be sure it is readable and understandable: WHY I CAN'T REACH BB APPS WORLD WITH A WI-FI INTERNET CONNECTION ?
I hope my question is clear!
