I had the same problem of having pictures in Blackberry stored as jpg.rem, and you know what I found out to save the pics in jpg?
Well, use your blackberry email, and attach the pictures one by one and send them to your own email address, somehow when I received the pictures from the email, the .rem extension disappeared and I was able to save all my pictures on my laptop.
What a relief!!! It is tedious to do the attachments of the BBerry pics one by one to email, but at least I got all the pictures saved on my laptop with just the .jpg extension!
Try this!!!

I tried the move from one folder to another and it didn't remove the encryption. My device connects to a BES and the IT policy is set to encrypt file system (including the multimedia sub folders.)
Do you have any other ways to try to remove encryption with an IT policy setup this way? Currently I am using the media manager program, which as you know can be a pain to work with.
Please click the "kudos" in my post if I was able to help you on this issue.
Please mark thread as resolved if I was able to fix the issue!!

As was posted before, the only way to decrypt once encrypted files is to mail them to yourself. Pain in the neck...
What worked for me to avoid the encryption although our IT turns encryption on was to store to the pictures/ folder on an SD card inserted into the BB. For some reason only that particular folder is not being encrypted. I now set all apps that need to store data that I may want to access through USB to store their stuff to the pictures/ folder.
But there are limits to this. I every now and then use the BB like a USB stick and of course push it all through the pictures/ folder to avoid encryption. However, for some reason the entire device slows down with an increasing amount of files in the pictures/ folder. When I accidentally left a 6GB backup in there the BB turned unusable. Any interaction took at least 5 seconds. Trying to delete the contents using the BB's explorer didn't work either. I had to connect through USB and wipe the stuff using the Windows explorer.
I want an iPhone...
