Hello!
I received a Bold yesterday from Vodafone UK.
Want to put Japanese on so I installed this from the Hong King site File name: 9000jEastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel331_PL4.0.0.172_A4.6.0.1
then after installng it, I deleted vendor.xml from o C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
Then I plugged the bold and updated it and added the Japanese files.
The PC shows a message that I need to enter a password on the Bold, but I never set-up a password.
Now the Bold won't start up and I get a white screen with the timer icon, occasionally the screen switches off and a red light comes on! I have tried removing the battery and starting again, but same thing happens.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Oh, and yes, I am searching here and other forums for a solution !

Plug the BB back to the USB, open C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and run the file "apploader.exe" and see if it prompts you for the OS reload.
If not:
You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wi
If JL_Cmder does not work, follow this instructional:

Thanks very much for your very quick reply, JSanders,
I am trying one more update and then, if it is unsuccesssful, I will follow your instructions.
I will report back here either way!
I have posted some PC screenshots, http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=142
but I think esato membership is needed to see them!
Thanks again!
update.... Previous attempt failed again,

so now try JL_Cmder !!

Hi,
tried all of these steps including the http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_to_do_
and even had the install transferring everything to the Bold,
but afterwards the Bold displays the white screen with the rotating timer.
I am totally perplexed ! Any other advice much appreciated!

Hi again,
I agree, I will try a little more this evening..
then if no luck, Vodafone call tomorrow. I am not sure I got JL-Cmder to work yet, so I am trying that again,
thanks !

I think this is going back to Vodafone tomorrow !
I want to say thianks for your time and help!
We didn't get a resolution, but we did get a solution! Send it back!
So cudos for you !
update from what vodafone said this morning..
I never did solve the continual loop and tried jl-cmder and also javaloader from the dos prompt but could not wipe the Bold.
Called Vodafone today and was told that I was sent an BB 9000 Bold Enterprise by mistake. I didn't know there was a difference, but was told can't update the Enterprise, so that is why it has crashed!
So exchange coming on Monday afternoon !

Well great. I don't think there are different versions either.
Nevertheless, enjoy.
