9700 Bold - changed service provider but can't set up email account again

Hi!  Recently moved from EE to O2 and can no longer get emails (to my work account).  When I try and click on the Email Account icon under Setup, nothing happens.  I've read some of the replies here and tried going to the BB mobile site, but when I type in my email address and password I just get redirected back to the same page again.  I'm at the end of my tether - any advice gratefully received!

On your Manage Connections screen, click on the Services Status.
What is the status of the BlackBerry Internet Service?

right I also think there is problem with the BIS that's why he can't setup his e-mail address.

Thank you!  It says: phone number - unknown number; status - available; then Blackberry Internet Service connection - mobile network.  My connection preference btw is Wi-Fi preferred, and my mobile network is correctly showing as O2.  Does that help?

Please try this FIRST, using your BlackBerry browser...

1)
• Go to mobile.blackberry.com OR to www.blackberry.com/integrate
• Scroll down to Communication and then to Email.
• Choose the appropriate email set up options.

If that works and completes your email setup/editing, good.

If not, follow these additional instructions:

2) Register HRT: (OS5) Home Screen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Scroll to any line entry and > press the Menu key > and then click Register Now. If you have an OS 6 or OS 7 device, Look at Options > Device > Advanced > Host Routing Table, etc.

3) Resend Service Books: Article ID: KB02830 How to send the service books for a BlackBerry Internet Service account. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830

4) Then, with the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

5) Now, return to the 1) mobile.blackberry.com email setup as mentioned above and follow that.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.  It turned out to be a problem relating to my old service provider (EE) still having my account somewhere on their system.  Once deleted, I was able to set up my account again on O2 via my browser.  Much appreciated!

Yes, that is common when the PIN or IMEI has not yet been released from the former carrier.

hi again - it seems the problem wasn't actually resolved, as I got a flurry of emails through... and then nothing.  Tried following your suggestion, and my account was already set up.  But the mail server seemed to have a different address from the one in my Outlook.  Tried changing it to match my Outlook.... but couldn't save changes as my password didn't work.  Do you know how I can change my password?!

I don't know what you're talking about changing your mail server?

 

What did you do?

 

Is this like a gmail or yahoo email account, or what?

sorry, I meant my email server as in my company server - it has 'mail2' at the beginning but I think it should have 'email' instead.  actually it now appears I can send emails but not receive them.  does that make any sense to you?
