Hi I'm new here... apologies if this has already been asked/answered. I have a brand new 9790 on Rogers with OS 7.0 bundle 2254. Desktop PC software says that 7.1 bundle 1647 is available. Backed up phone and proceeded with update over usb. It's now been stuck with the message "Downloaded module 84 of 1200" for a couple hours. Is is safe to disconnect the phone? How do I complete the update?

Yes, if you backed up first, you can disconnect with no issue of losing data (since you have a backup).
Disconnect > Pull the battery/replace/reboot.
If that works, good.
If not, post back here.

Thanks, I did eventually disconnect, and the phone is fine. I tried the update again, and this time it stalled on module 85 of 1200. Do you have any ideas on how I can get the thing updated to 7.1?

No, I don't know what module that actually might be.
You can upgrade manually in this manner:
See the link below for the download, and follow these simple installation instructions.
First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/dow
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Thanks. Unfortunately that will not work at this time... went to the link, but OS 7.0.0.2254 is the only item in my carrier's list for the 9790. 7.1 is not there, even though it is available through desktop software. Will have to wait patiently for it to show up I guess.
