9900 Battery Problems

I have a Blackberry bold 9900 running 7.0.0.296 (on vodafone).  The battery life on my handset is rubbish I barely get through 7/9 hours without needing to find a power outlet myprevious blackberry (bold2) was much better.  Is this a known issue on the 9900? has anyone else experienced this? is there a fix for this or a different battery I can use to increase the lifespan?

Yes, you'll find other users experiencing this. You'll also find others who are not.

Re: 9900 Battery Problems

The advice given to remedy Bold 9900 problems is pathetic. What part of this Smartphone is actually smart? Do I need to keep turning 3G, Wireless, Bluetooth on and off the whole day - just to make it to Tea Time without recharging? Doesn't sound too smart to me. BTW - sent from my I-Pad

No, and those suggestions are quite honestly silly -- as well as pathetic.

There are other things you can do that will actually help your battery life, not disable optimal use of your BlackBerry.

Re: 9900 Battery Problems

I am still having problems wityh my 9900 Bold battery life. This phone has gone backwards in battery life. Has now let me down 9 times in just over 2 weeks.

Has not made the normal working day out.... Blackberry as so gone wrong with this phones battery life.

My 9700 even though i had 3 new phones were faulty this is a surpiour phone for making a lot of calls on.

  • I have turned my display brightness down to 30 % now
  • I need my blue tooth so i keep that on
  • Wi-Fi is not switched on
  • Got rid of Twitter, Hotmail & other things that may sap Battery life.
  • Done the upgrade software bit

Next option is sell it on Ebay and go back to my 9700 Bold

Why change a phone to one that keeps letting you down....

Its a no brainer really when it starts affecting your day of business.

I not near a desk in the day so can't charge it.

Does any one know how to re-direct a compalint email to Blackberry as they seem a company who has closed doors?

Re: 9900 Battery Problems

Has any one tried any of the long life after market battery for the Bold to see if they can get back the talk time of the Bold 9700??

I have seen after market Batterys:

  • 1750MA (same size as the JM1 1250MA)

Not sure if this is possable to get the MA up to 1750MA in the same size battery. Then again my 9700 has 1550MA & is the same size battery as the 9900.

Why Blackberry put such a small MA battery in a phone that uses more power, i just can't understand??

You wouldn't put a Ford Focus 1.4 Battery in a 2.5 Diesel car!!

  • 3600MA with a extended back

http://www.evertop.co.uk/p/5010583/blackberry-bold-9900-extended-life-battery-replace-model-j-m1-360...

I have to carry a spare Battery with me & 1 mad long day at work went through 3 fully charged batterys

Re: 9900 Battery Problems

I put real talk time on the Bold 9900 to about 3hrs. As they advertise this at 6hrs i beleive when you look for a review. Not sure how they test talk time Blackberry??

Maybe with 2 x Blackberry Bake Bean Cans & a Bit of string between them!!

As the battery life is half that of my Bold 9700

I wounder if the 9790 is some where in between the two phone on battery life.

Smaller screen and maybe they can switch of the battery life eating processor till you need the internet or Touch screen & have it in sleep mode till needed!

Why can't Blacberry do this??

just a quick button to switch this mode on & off.

  • "Off mode"  you have Battery life the same as a 9700                      (Long Battery Life Mode)
  • "On mode"  it become a battery life eating monstor like a 9900     (Short Battery Life Mode)

We put a man on the moon in 1969. Would not want to have him walking about with a 9900 without a few spare batterys or a plug in cigarette lighter charger on the Moon Buggey...
