Not sure if a solution has been found but I think there is a need to update your BMW ConnectedDrive Software to the latest version.  I just tried that and it seems to work; connection is steady and also emails are coming through on my Office Messages.

I ahve the same problem and would LOVE to return the Bold 9900, but company provided, VERY frustrating.

I just fixed my wife's Bold 9900 BT connection to her X5. The recent update is when the problem started so I downgraded to the previous OS 7.1. I believe bundle 2180.
