9900 adding full stops while texting

Why is it when im typing in either sms or BBM I keep getting random full stops appearing within the text? This just makes the following letter a capital letter and the text looks awful. I have tried changing between predictive and standard input but it makes no difference at all.

Please use plain text.

Re: 9900 adding full stops while texting

Why? It is because you are entering a double-space after a word, which automatically enters the "." period.

It's working as designed.

Re: 9900 adding full stops while texting

Although you're only pressing the space key once, are you CERTAIN it is not entering a double space?

Re: 9900 adding full stops while texting

[ Edited ]

If I might pipe in here, I also have this issue and several others as well. We have tried several things. Some worked for a while others only revert back to an "unexplained period". You can try setting the keyboard setting to fast or slow. Some success with this from another forum; [You need to press down on your space bar quite hard...not hard to the point where you'll break it, obviously. But really rather firm, much more than you're used to. Press a thumb down hard on the left side of the bar, then the right, then the centre. Then press both thumbs down hard across the whole of the space bar.].
Cleaning the dirt or dust out from the keys helped others and even an upgraded OS hasn't permenently fixed this issue. It seems to have started about six months after purchasing the device and I personally believe it's a hardware issue. I have found the spacekey fix to work for a while and I keep re-doing that and have been okay.

Re: 9900 adding full stops while texting

diffused, can you determine if you're actually entering two spaces with the faulty space bar... is that what's happening?

Re: 9900 adding full stops while texting

Yes, it does seem to be that. It's hard to say since it's so random. Hence, random periods". But the pattern is as described; many had this happening after about six months, space key fix only lasts temporarily.

Re: 9900 adding full stops while texting

Thsoe "."  are randomly placed after you press the space key twice?
