Hanna, it's time you demanded that Vodafone ESCALATE this issue to RIM level tech support. Call and demand that.

....I have finally found out what the fault is - or in fact, better said, been informed that they have accepted that there is a fault. This is a global issue with the Bold 9900 and the Iphone 4s. They are currently working on a soluton, but as yet they have not found the cause of the problem. I have been told to switch of 3G when roaming (which I found out by myself) and wait a fix - key point is, this is a registered issue with RIM which is being looked into - it apparently affects all roamers!

Thanks! It would appear that this is causing a lot of problems for business travellers! I have mixed feelings about the 9900, I had the Torch before this, which I desparately hated, in fact, Vodafone changed it for a 9900 Bold at no cost after 1 year. I did feel much happier with the Bold, I am at an age where I prefer a keypad, and this is why I got on so will with the 9900 until this issue started happening. I was in the US for 3 days without a phone! I have now ordered the Iphone5, but will be hanging on to my bbry - which I guess I will continue to use if/when they sort the G3 roaming problem out.

Hello,
I am the other user f0xx386 is refering to.
I believe now that it is a vodafone issue and I doubt it is ever going to be fixed.
Before I ever used a vodafone SIM I had used an orage SIm which and when I was travelling in the US I could switch to a t-mobile.com SIM.
I may be a problem with OS 7.1 but I now have doubts. Next time I am abroad (end of the month) I will so a complete wipe and firmware reinstall and then use my NON-vodafone SIM to see if the behavior is fixed.
Then I'll report here if this is really an issue with the vodafone SIM changing some stupid protection setting.
In the meantime please update here if you have news.
V.
