Hello,

I know there are many posts about this problem.

Would anyone be kind enough to give me one link for the solution.

Thank you!

Re: 9900 dead, won't charge, won't startup

If you've rebooted taking the battery out, back in, etc., and you've tried connecting to the Desktop Software on your PC... and still nothing, call you mobile provider and explain and get the issue escalated to RIM level two tech support.

Try this:

    • Open Blackberry Desktop Software & Connect your device with PC using USB cable, without inserting battery.
    • You should get three options Retry, Update Or Cancel, then click on update.
    • Once it is to the stage of the update "initializing handheld", then insert battery and continue.

Re: 9900 dead, won't charge, won't startup

ihfw, you're welcome. There are many good users here who help out. I am one of several.

Hey, since you had NOT said what you had already done.. I asked IF you had.

And, I provided another solution. Some have had success with it. Again, you're providing US with limited information and I'm responding only to the information you've provided.

Oh , also... IF NOTHING ELSE succeeds:  You will need to use BBSAK or JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
For BBSAK, here is the link: http://bbsak.org/

If JL_Cmder does not work, follow this instructional:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_to_do_next_if_Jl_Cmder_will_not_connect_and_wipe

Re: 9900 dead, won't charge, won't startup

This seems not to be an official website of blackberry.

Din't RIM find any solution to this issue? It's a so common problem.

RIM can't count on some you hard working people, but to work hard themselves to make better products.

Otherwise, next dead thing is not only my 9900, but RIM.

Re: 9900 dead, won't charge, won't startup

Do you need help here, or just to complain? I understand if you want to complain, you've done that.

But since this is a SUPPORT forum, and we aren't "RIM", let's stick to how we can help you.

Re: 9900 dead, won't charge, won't startup

Apologize to you J Sanders,

I am a little bit angry because this is my second bold 9900 that malfunctions.

I would write down the symptom and the measure I took in detail.

Smptom:

I left my 9900 on my desk last night without charging it.

I remembered that the battery had about 60% left before I went to bed.

I didn't have any apps running on the background.

Neither did I turn the WIFI on.

When I woke up, I found my phone totally dead.

It means, I cannot power on, the red light is NOT on, either.

Measures:

Here is what I did,

1.plug into the wall charger, didn't work (system didn't start)

2.take the battery out for a minute and then put it back, wait for 30 seconds, didn't work;

3.take the battery out, and plug the phone to wall charger, didn't work;

4.take the battery out, plug the phone to PC, didn't work;

5.set battery on, connect to PC, didn't work;

6.set battery on, try to connect to Devise manager, could not recognize my phone;

7.take battery out, try to connect to Devise manager, could not recognize my phone;

I am afraid I can't do anything else

Here is my conjectures of the reason for the problem

1. the battery has run out

2. I put the phone on my desk and on it there is a cup of water, which made the phone moistured

.Any ideas J Sanders?

I tried to use the Swiss Knife and wipe software, but my phone could not connect to PC, so I was unable to do it.

Re: 9900 dead, won't charge, won't startup

Apology accepted...

You've done all that I would do. Call you mobile provider and explain and get the issue escalated to RIM level two tech support.

Re: 9900 dead, won't charge, won't startup

ihfw

I was wondering if you found out how to resolve this issue.. I woke up this morning to my phone dead also.  I plugged it in with half a battery last night, and find it has died sometime through the night.  I have tried all of the ways to fix it as you had to no avail.

please let me know! thanks

Re: 9900 dead, won't charge, won't startup

Hey JB,

Now I am going to take next two steps.

1. buy a new battery, and try it on my bold.  If it worked, then it's my battery's problem. If not, my bold 9900 is dead, I have to get a new one.

2. buy a Universal Charger, which can charge the battery directly, hoping in that way, my battery will revive.

The battery is about 10 dollars, and the Universal Charger is about 7 dollars, I think it is worthy to buy, since, our bold 9900 is about 400~500 dollars.

I bought both from ebay, they will be delivered by Saturday I think,

I will let you know wether it works or not.
